Searching for Novel Classifiers

چکیده
Natural evolution is an open-ended search process without an a priori fitness function that needs to be optimized. On the other hand, evolutionary algorithms (EAs) rely on a clear and quantitative objective. TheNovelty Search algorithm (NS) substitutes fitness-based selectionwith a novelty criteria; i.e., individuals are chosen based on their uniqueness. To do so, individuals are described by the behaviors they exhibit, instead of their phenotype or genetic content. NS has mostly been used in evolutionary robotics, where the concept of behavioral space can be clearly defined. Instead, this work applies NS to a more general problem domain, classification. To this end, two behavioral descriptors are proposed, each describing a classifier’s performance from two different perspectives. Experimental results show that NS-based search can be used to derive effective classifiers. In particular, NS is best suited to solve difficult problems, where exploration needs to be encouraged and maintained.

A Novel Ensemble Approach for Anomaly Detection in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Time-overlapped Sliding Windows
One of the most important issues concerning the sensor data in the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is the unexpected data which are acquired from the sensors. Today, there are numerous approaches for detecting anomalies in the WSNs, most of which are based on machine learning methods. In this research, we present a heuristic method based on the concept of “ensemble of classifiers” of data minin...
متن کاملMAPanalyzer: a novel online tool for analyzing microtubule-associated proteins
The wide functional impacts of microtubules are unleashed and controlled by a battery of microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs). Specialists in the field appreciate the diversity of known MAPs and propel the identifications of novel MAPs. By contrast, there is neither specific database to record known MAPs, nor MAP predictor that can facilitate the discovery of potential MAPs. We here report th...

Question answering systems are produced and developed to provide exact answers to the question posted in natural language. One of the most important parts of question answering systems is question classification. The purpose of question classification is predicting the kind of answer needed for the question in natural language. The literature works can be categorized as rule-based and learning...

In this paper, we propose an approach for automatic generation of novel intrusion signatures. This approach can be used in the signature-based Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDSs) and for the automation of the process of intrusion detection in these systems. In the proposed approach, first, by using several one-class classifiers, the profile of the normal network traffic is established. ...
متن کاملOptimization of Network Topology in Computer-Aided Detection Schemes Using Phased Searching with NEAT in a Time-Scaled Framework
In the field of computer-aided mammographic mass detection, many different features and classifiers have been tested. Frequently, the relevant features and optimal topology for the artificial neural network (ANN)-based approaches at the classification stage are unknown, and thus determined by trial-and-error experiments. In this study, we analyzed a classifier that evolves ANNs using genetic al...
متن کاملSUBCLASS FUZZY-SVM CLASSIFIER AS AN EFFICIENT METHOD TO ENHANCE THE MASS DETECTION IN MAMMOGRAMS
This paper is concerned with the development of a novel classifier for automatic mass detection of mammograms, based on contourlet feature extraction in conjunction with statistical and fuzzy classifiers. In this method, mammograms are segmented into regions of interest (ROI) in order to extract features including geometrical and contourlet coefficients. The extracted features benefit from...
